NEW YORK — The New York Islanders announced Monday that forward Matt Dumbar will play for the Buffalo Sabres in the AHL, the team announced.
Dumbar was acquired by the Islanders in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 26 and made his NHL debut Jan. 31 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Dumba, 20, played in three games with the Islanders last season, scoring one goal and tallying two assists.
He played four NHL games last season.
Sabres general manager George McPhee said Dumbar is “an important piece” to the organization and “an excellent player to build a winning team around.”
Dumbar played for Team USA at the World Juniors in 2016.
