A teenager who is facing a trial in a sex scandal that rocked South Korea’s political elite has described the shock of the scandal and how she felt in the first weeks of the trial.
Aung Sang-joon was one of six accused of having sex with the younger sister of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, who is also being tried.
The scandal erupted last month when the eldest daughter of Park, Lee Kyung-wha, was found guilty of a string of sex offences against three of her male relatives.
She was accused of giving birth to a baby boy after being raped by her uncle.
In her opening statement at the trial, Aung said she did not know what to think, and that the trial had made her nervous.
“I had never experienced this kind of trauma before,” she said.
“It was so strange, it was really painful.”
Prosecutors had claimed the sex was consensual.
Ms Aung and the other three accused women – who are all in their twenties – deny wrongdoing and say they did not want children.
The trial has been called by prosecutors in the southern city of Gyeonggi, which is home to Seoul.
They say the women conspired to cheat Park and to steal her cash and other assets.
Ms Lee, the youngest, was charged with three counts of rape and three counts each of incest and aggravated sexual battery.
Ms Park, who has been president since 2012, and Ms Moon, the oldest, were found not guilty of the charges.
Prosecutors said they had not presented any evidence against the women.
Prosecutors say the case will be handed over to the prosecution.
The prosecutors also say the other women will face charges in a separate trial.
“Aung Sang has been forced to take responsibility for her actions,” said prosecutor Jeong-hyun Oh, referring to the case of the youngest accused.
The youngest accused, a former South Korea ambassador to the United States, has already been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Prosecutors have already said Ms Lee was involved in the “biggest scam in history”.
Ms Aeng is accused of being involved in an alleged conspiracy to steal cash and assets worth more than $100m.
Prosecutors had accused her of selling a car for $150,000.
They have said she gave a fake name and photo to a man and that she arranged to meet the man and his son at a restaurant in Gyeongsang-ri, Seoul, in May last year.
Ms Moon has also been charged with two counts of incest.
She denies the allegations.
She says she was forced to have sex with her father after being tricked by a friend and is innocent.
“The truth will be told,” she told reporters after the trial ended on Wednesday.
“But I cannot bear to face the guilt of my father, because he is innocent.”
‘I’m scared’ Aung has previously been in court to defend her father in a defamation case.
Ms Seong-young has been charged under the same charges but her case is being delayed.
South Korea has a history of sexual misconduct scandals involving politicians, including those of Park and her husband, former President Roh Moo-hyung.
Ms Yoon-kyung is the third woman to be arrested in the scandal.
She has already appeared in court on two other counts, one of which is related to the money scandal.
“If we had the right people to hold our government accountable, we could have a lot more justice,” Ms Yoo-kyun said.
